Modular tables for children’s area | 2009, Italy.
A BeeTable is a trapezoid-shaped table for children, _
It’s a modular table for children’s areas,
It’s a play element for children’s areas,
It’s a house, a door, a castle, a bridge…
Sets of BeeTable’s can be combined
to create different spaces,
to create different relationships among children,
to create different relationships between children and adults,
to create different areas and routes to explore,
to create the right environment for group activities,
for individual activities, for reading and for listening.
BeeTable is a modular table designed to help organise areas in facilities dedicated to children, such as kids’ art centres, museums, libraries, bookshops and schools…The surrounding environment is of vital importance for children, and must be as stimulating as the activities that take place there, and BeeTables can be combined to create an inviting, creative environment. They can be arranged in a semi-circle around a reader to focus a child’s attention, or used to create hexagonal blocks for group workshops with 6 – 12 participants…or they can be organised into more complex, structured patterns, making for challenging interplay among children or to their creative relationship with space.
And when it is not being used as a work or play surface, the bridge, castle and house door-shaped legs of BeeTable can create all sorts of new territories to explore in what is traditionally one of children’s favourite places – under the table!
